Bridge
Bridge is a card game enjoyed by young and old, played on equal terms by both sexes and doesn't depend on a persons physical abilities.
It is good for the brain providing mental stimuli and developing powers of concentration.
Not just being a competitive game it is also a social game requiring that it is played at a "table" of four people where you are paired off with another person being your "partner". In a bridge session there will be more than one table where you will play against other pairs.
If you want to learn about bridge and the basics of the game then contact the Howick and Papatoetoe Bridge Clubs who run comprehensive lessons for beginners twice yearly. The lessons are run across 10 weeks on a Tuesday evening at the club rooms.
When you start playing bridge at a club you are graded as a Junior (New Zealand Bridge Ranking) and as you develop as a player your ranking will change to Intermediate and then Open. This ranking is used when you play tournaments outside the club and if you change clubs you will take your current ranking with you.
